@kim_harding@mastodon.scot Why refundable? These fees are a tiny part of the cost to build a data center. Data center builders need to be made to shoulder the total cost of adding their load: Want to build one? BYOG - bring your own generation, and let it be clean energy. And pay for the interconnects to the grid, remedies for the local heat, and the additional WATER use. Someone has to pay for all that, and it should not be ordinary people.
