@NMBA@mstdn.ca True enough, but as the posts in this thread show, benefit sharing with the community in which you build is a recipe for being received with open arms. As a clean energy CEO, you ignore that at your peril.

    @CelloMomOnCars@mastodon.social Renewables are facing a global disinfo network backed by the richest corps, they can't win the propaganda war as they lack the resources. As an Albertan subjected to decades of oil propaganda, I always view corporate sponsorship as a plan for skullduggery - they buy things for a community because they want something that they can't get without first "educating" the people. Zuck will gladly build a hockey rink to get local buy-in to then drain the community's water: it makes economic sense. If corps want to donate and get tax benefits, then create a independent communal pot like the lotto that municipalities and other orgs can then apply for grants.
