@librico@mastodon.online Thank you for pointing that out. What I wanted to stress is that niche use cases like protein folding are frequently used to justify "AI" in a way that has little to do with what "AI" stands for: (commercial, LLMs, extraction , exploitation, domination).

I am also rather sad about what the terms 'ML' and 'AI' have become in the public perception Personally, I find cognition immensely fascinating and me studying and researching 'AI' is about exploring this fascination. The public, instead, either sees it as an investment opportunity or a devil's tool. So everytime I talk about my research I must include the asterisc 'It doesnt replace artists or workers! Thats not what I do. I just build them better tools!'
