@hsza@social.tudbut.de @sel@fedi.wasp.best @mldkyt@soc.mldkyt.com the way i understood, you already did defederate them and im saying that this alone will only work if everyone else you federate with also defederates them because otherwise messages from those instances can still get to you if someone from an instance you do federate with interacts with them basically 1. you send a message 2. nazi responds <- this doesnt get to you due to defederation 3. someone responds to the nazi for whatever reason <- the response is federated to you 4. your instance backfills the reply chain and with that fetches the message from the nazi
