She's born a couple of weeks before the cut off, so she's the very youngest in her level. She's clever but she's lacking a little, the details in her drawings aren't at the same level as other students. And we feel her maturity needs a little more growing. But she's not far off in our minds, and I wouldn't object to her starting school next year if the teachers think she's ready, but I really don't want to see her struggling. I think by holding her back another year she might be a bit more confident in herself, and she won't be much older than the norm. We're still on the fence, if her teachers feel she's ready then maybe she'll start school next year

@Billy_Hughes@nicecrew.digital I have heard of this phenomenon. I always heard it applied to the realm of sport. Being nearly a whole year younger tends to be a disadvantage as the kids are much smaller than their peers and they tend to have less muscle and mass which you need for sport, and so most profession athletes and players tend to have birthdays closer to the start of the school year. A benefit that affects them right up to adulthood. Honestly I think you're making the correct choice, the same will apply to brain development and all capabilities that stem from that. I hope that you can arrange it without any difficulty, mate.
