@jamieannmason@mastodon.social You can usually get an appointment with a top specialist direct if you pay cash up front. Again, this in Australian experience. Free health system up to 2 years. My mothers has been waiting for 3 years (they are basically waiting for her to die) I paid A$ 800 cash and I got to see top specialist within 3 weeks. Happened twice. Also, explore cancellation lists. Some specialist have a list of patients willing to go at short notice if someone cancels.
