@AmeliasBrain@mstdn.ca One plausible explanation for why LinkedIn has that label, is that they want to know WHEN their AI slop is problematic/bad, in order to improve it until it is either undetectable, or at least users don’t find it objectionable.
Whether that seems like a Good Thing probably depends on your POV.

@tphinney@typo.social I assume this is about reporting user-contributed posts, so it's not really "their" slop. (Whether they've got AI slop all over their codebase is another matter.) But as I understand it (I don't have an account, so I only see the complaints), the LinkedIn post-promoting algorithm has for many years optimized for just the sort of vague filler content that AI excels at, so detecting the AI slop in a sea of hand-crafted slop is going to be difficult.
