I've started watching Japanese shows again, currently watching a J-drama about tokusatsu (rather than just watching tokusatsu), and. Interesting bit of language difference. To go "to the beach", beach is just "umi", which means sea. It feels marginally different to say you're going to the water, rather than to the sand.
