@cjd@pkteerium.xyz @Terry@poa.st skeptics have been making good arguments against the myth of air power for decades but there's too much money in it. the MIC gets to make infinity money building a handful of planes a year while congress gets kickbacks and generals get lucrative sinecures in retirement

You've mentioned this before - and there are a lot of things like this, where the truth is widely known but the myth is still official orthodoxy. For example: the jet fuel melts steel, vaccines are beneficial, and race has no impact on intelligence. However, for the most part, the powers that be are able to get away with holding these ridiculous myths because they don't impact them. Believing that weapons which don't work, do work, is one of those myths you CANNOT afford to hold. The pentagon is filled with people talking about "5th generation warfare", and how "we're not gonna bring the last war's weapons to the next war", and so on... So the idea that for ALL of the talk that they managed to do about not making This Mistake, they ended up making ... drumroll ... This Mistake... It's kind of amusing. And they could have kept the grift going and kept getting stupid billion dollar contracts for junk, IF, they had just done the one thing they had to do - which is make sure they also provide enough support weaponry that their junk doesn't make them lose. But as it is, they're gonna lose. And once they lose Iran they're gonna lose the gulf, and then the petrodollar, and then the entire fucking empire and their whole way of life - and to a significant extent, because they made This Mistake which they spent their entire careers talking about not making...
