I picked up _The Trouble with Goats and Sheep_ by Joanna Cannon as I'd read one of the author's books a couple of years back and really enjoyed it. This was a delightful book too. Set in a suburban cul-de-sac during the 1976 heatwave. It starts with the disappearance of one of the residents but there's more going on under the surface. There's a ten year old narrator who sees what the grown ups do but doesn't entirely understand it so the reader gets to put the puzzle together.
