@nyx@fedi.wasp.best its been a thing since forever to me. I think someone involved with launching Node.js posted a job listing they nearly wouldn't have qualified for. Only people that worked with Node before public release would have had that? I think besides general negging of the interviewee, trying to put you in an uncomfortable place... It is also an effective trick to dismiss people without negative consequences. If they are actually refusing candidates follow up interviews (because they can get pregnant or violate some other protection) they can just lie it was because they didn't meet min. qualifications. Also some companies have a rule positions have to be advertised on the market even though they already have some (nepo baby) lined up. By making the listing unsatisfiable they get to claim no suitable candidates were found and go with their own pick. At some point it might also have been a trick to ding external recruiters with, withholding a bonus or part of a commission because the candidate did not meet al requirements even though they hired them 🤡
