@Guillotine_Jones@beige.party @emersunn@beige.party For the sake of nuanced precision though, I'll add that there are, obviously, at least as many unevenly distributed veins of smart, well-informed people here. The problem, I think, stems more from the energetic exuberance with which US culture encourages and empowers everybody(*) to speak up and make their mark on the world, without the kinds of gatekeeping and crushing embarrassment that might, in other cultures, somewhat reign in some of our more dimwitted brethren.
