@nomdeb@mstdn.social @atfarnum@dragonscave.space Second the ScanSnap for old snapshots. You might have to clean it every 100 - 200 photos or so to avoid scan lines from dust buildup. For fragile stuff, you'll need a flatbed, but you can probably use the scan function on an office or library printer?
For documentation, I use LightRoom (whcih I already own for my photography work), but there is probably a free app that will let you add metadata and scan for faces. Maybe set up an Immich instance?
