Just back from the optician. I only had my usual checkup a year ago and probably wouldn't have had another one until next year, but I've had an eye floater appear in the last couple of days. It's bigger and more noticeable than some teeny tiny ones I've had for a while, so since floaters can be a warning sign of imminent retinal detachment, got to get it checked out.

He had a look in my eyes and could see plenty of floaters, but no sign of retina problems. And I don't have any other red flag symptoms, like flashing lights, dark shadows, or sudden "swarms" of round black dots in my vision. He reckons this one has just floated to where it's happening to cast a shadow on the macular. It will likely eventually drift away from there and be less noticeable, apparently. Hope so!
