@jasongorman@mstdn.business, I agree that the claims of AI productivity improvement for software development are grossly exaggerated. Nevertheless, as a practitioner who has started working with AI tools in a software development workflow, I am fairly confident that these tools will increase productivity to a significant extent at an affordable price point. Perhaps we will only achieve 1.25X (or 1.175X). But my gut feel is that some measurable improvement will be realized.

@_KevinTrainor@mastodon.online Prices are massively subsidised right now, so that will be interesting to see what happens when they reflect real costs. But also, the best available data shows most teams being negatively impacted by it. It's an amplifier.
