@phocks@bne.social Make them financially liable for every act of fraud committed using that stolen data.
Then they might learn how valuable it actually is and stop insisting on storing it.

@stuartl@mastodon.longlandclan.id.au @phocks@bne.social actually proving the source of misused PII is really hard (read: expensive), so this requires strict liability for enforcement to be effective.
