There are three-bedroom terraced houses around here that sell for more than that. That probably comes around £3-5M, but even there it isn't likely to be a significant problem. I think £5-30M is probably the window where you are basically able to afford absolutely anything that a reasonable person might want to buy (assuming a 5% return, that gives you £250K - £1.5M/year to spend, which is enough that you can impulse-purchase a house, or pay a few people to work on something you care about). Above that, you're almost certainly going to be spending far more time managing money than enjoying it.
