@teledyn@mstdn.ca you'd be surprised. I was just told that code I wrote for RenderMan in the '90s was scheduled to be removed, but the studio said it was still being used. My blog software has run essentially unchanged since circa 2003.
The insurance software I wrote circa 1991 probably would still be in play if we'd not (deliberately, because 80 columns, and expensive disk space) made the decision to use 2 digit years.
And it's not that we didn't ship updates or fix stuff, we did less of it.

@teledyn@mstdn.ca I think it's best summed up as a change from thinking about software in terms of mean time between failure, to thinking about it in terms of mean time to recovery. And because compute is so cheap now that nobody much cares about crufty performance, either.
