... I really shouldn't have to say this, but arson attacks on synagogues in New Zealand have *nothing* to do with Gaza.

To be clear, if someone, when hearing about a synagogue in New Zealand getting firebombed, responds with "criticism of Israel is not antisemitic", *that* statement *is* antisemitic. The synagogue was in New Zealand. It was a Reform synagogue that was pretty anti-Zionist in orientation (not that that matters). If, the moment you hear about something unpleasant happens to Jews, you jump to thinking about Israel and Gaza, you are an antisemite.
