@siblingsofthevoid@void.lgbt PMs are the worst. It got better when I moved from dotcom to academic staff in 2001 but still. With so many companies run for vibes and VC/PE payout not for sustainability and profit, something's got to give. People can't continuously work on a 9-24 month basis in this monthly layoff environment. Companies are disposable, workers doubly so. That has to change.

@arclight@oldbytes.space I agree, all of this stuff is ridiculous. Not to mention all the offloading to the client. The current company I work at has a laravel backend with a vue frontend. They may as well not have a backend because all the load is on the frontend. All the data the user has access to is pre-loaded into the frontend and the frontend does the filtering... THIS is the kind of corporate slop we've been producing for a while now. A fucking drunk toddler could tell you that this is HORRIBLE and that you should use the damn backend for what it is good at lol When telling them that their internal network could be made simpler, becauae people can move between workstations without having USB sticks on them... They couldn't fathom that software to connect that could run on a shitbox from 2001 lol (they also said that the setup would be "too complex"... This is the kind of stuff I do as a hobby...) This replacibility creates this horrible slopification... It frustrates me that we can just accept these miserable standards without ever questioning whether what we're building is actually good...
