@mhoye@cosocial.ca @chroma@raccoonisland.social yeah, I agree with this — I remember a time before Slack or Discord existed, and nobody except huge nerds used IRC then either. I barely understand it and I had a ZX Spectrum. There's a lot to like about it, but "IRC is unpopular mostly because it's inconvenient" is such a self-evidently true statement it kind of baffles me that anyone could disagree
