I just remembered the whole #MastodonForHarris where people are happy to donate tons of money to campaign to get her on Mastodon as if she had advocated people to get off Twitter in the first place. But somehow doing mutual aids for anyone with financial difficulties is a big no-no as "they could be scammers". I would rather give a fiver to them than to a politician. Maybe they might be lying but it's only a fiver and also for people in that difficult position, it's still better than nothing. And also, Kamala would be on Mastodon if she wanted to go on there and it feels like at best, a fairy tale of unchecked optimism.

    @matty@blahaj.zone that weird situation where people find it easier to give money to a rich person than to a poor person. that can only be societal conditioning. it doesn't make any sense on an objective basis
