Giving the retro folks something extra would perhaps fit the Commodore brand, but in the end, support for legacy standards is not that critical if you accept the need for an external upscaler. The most important thing here is the overall zero-BS and performance focused philosophy. Specific features can be added later if the base is well thought out.
