@g@social.defg.diy Matrix seems hard to self-host? I'm not sure, but the user experience of Delta Chat is top notch, as is the privacy and the actual apps themselves. Very easy to get my friends onto Delta Chat, Matrix seems like a different kind of use case to me (IRC/Slack)
