@inthehands@hachyderm.io I'm not a Ruby/Rails guy, but I'm interested in the software ecosystem as a whole, so I really wish them the best with this effort. However, this announcement leads me to a pet peeve. If you visit the above link in a web browser, it tells you "pick an app" to view this ... content? Page? Whatever it is. What you cannot pick, apparently, is "view this in the web browser I'm currently using to read your annoying prompt to use an app". So congratulations to every FOSS project who does this sort of nonsense and immediately cuts off a significant fraction of their potential audience from ever seeing their "stuff". @inthehands@hachyderm.io @Floppy@mastodon.me.uk I read the replies, and there's a lot of enthusiasm from people who understand the kinds of pitfalls that interfere with sustaining it, I think it might work. sadly Rails is outside my own expertise, so I can only boost and link to friends and cheer from sidelines

@inthehands@hachyderm.io I literally just edited my podcast episode where I struggle with this. Rails is my favorite web programming environment, but I am not on board with the tools of genocide enthusiasts. I guess I have some kind of answer to "now what?"
