Finding passerine feathers in fecal samples of bats, a 2025 study showed that the greater noctule bat (Nyctalus lasiopterus), preys on nocturnally migrating birds. Science did not know of this before, but four hundred years earlier, the artist Jan Brueghel had depicted the behaviour in a painting. https://www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.2536525123
