When I was in tenth grade, our English teacher spent several weeks teaching us the correct use of the semicolon. It has had a major impact on my writing ever since. Thank you, Mr. Harvey!

This was a small religious boarding school, with no resources allotted for ESL. Nevertheless, Mr. Harvey patiently worked with two students in this class (one from Mexico, one from Japan) who had no functional grasp of English. This man was a hero!
