@celesteh@hachyderm.io An extremely cursory Wikipedia search says Chaldean is apparently similar to, but not quite the same as, Old Aramaic; the peoples themselves are consistently differentiated.
But yes, my first thought was that the seven-per-cent solution was responsible.

@nsmckinnon@laserdisc.party I think that the Jastrow Talmudic dictionary uses the abbreviation "CH" for Aramaic, but I'm unclear as to why.
