The Volvo 240 wagon has a payload capacity of about 1,100 pounds.
Roughly the same as 2022 Ram 1500 Limited Crew Cab 4x4.

The comparison makes more sense then it might seem. These were both essentially upper middle class practical luxury vehicles. Going after the same market about 40 years apart.
