    @redsad@ohai.social when I lived downtown in a little tourist city my elderly mom couldn’t even stroll around the city with me because she would need to sit to rest frequently, and a lot of the places one would sit were covered with spikes or broken up pieces of concrete to discourage homeless people from resting.

    @redsad@ohai.social @alice@lgbtqia.space eh... I'd have still been homeless as I wouldn't have had connections to the party... I implore the collective Western Fediverse to please stop giving examples with ex-communist residential buildings. Pull up Vienna's social/municipal housing instead. Also not quite fond of exploiting a homeless person to further your point. And I won't even go into arguing about 'socialism'... Each time this meme rolls through my timeline I roll my eyes - hey look, another naive westerner...
