@Siiin@pagan.plus I'm sure I could have gotten an even more granular version from someone who's a formal midwife or obstetrician, but my doula still has the right amount of experience & training that I felt pretty impressed by what a comprehensive explanation I did get. It was a really thorough integration of things I understood in more decontextualized ways, along with things I had no idea about. I wish birthing education were part of standard sex education — it is so weird to be raised with a deep understanding of how to get pregnant & what menstruating bodies do, but a much more abstract understanding of what physiologically happens when a healthy & wanted pregnancy reaches its natural conclusion.
