@artemis@dice.camp I disagree with your take on the use of all lanes being the cause of traffic backing up. Obviously the backup is well beyond the merger point- your take is the same false reasoning that ‘more lanes will improve traffic flow’ it just increases traffic. And in your scenario it also increases the likelihood that attitudes at the merge will be negatively affected. Selfishly pushing your vehicle ahead for what is a thirty second benefit is not the answer, why wouldn’t everyone in traffic just cut into the merge lane to pass those in front of them and thus block all those people legitimately joining the “parking lot”?
