So when you add how many motorists aren't aware of breaking laws, that number explodes. Plus the motives and the way the laws are broken are vitally important. A cyclist not stopping at a stop sign because it's his turn, he's moving slow enough to see everything, and stopping would put him dangerously into the mix with cars as well as take away his momentum to maneuver away, is nowhere near comparable to a motorist running a stop, accelerating through at dangerous speeds that could take out a slow-moving pedestrian they "didn't see", just because he thinks it will save him a second. That reasoning was also indicated in the study.
