Laurence Abrami and colleagues in Gisou van der Goot's lab show that cycles of fatty-acid attachment and removal control CMG2, a protein that supports tissues and serves as anthrax toxin's entry gate. Blocking the enzyme APT2 boosts CMG2 levels and reduces toxin entry in cells and zebrafish.
