Most of the time, I love living in Washington DC. It's a city full of great people, great food, lots of Little Free Libraries, etc. The less pleasant aspect of it is sometimes being unable even to cross the street because everything is blocked for a motorcade. Tomorrow, in addition to all the usual politicians, both Netanyahu and Zelenskyy will be here for Lindsey Graham's funeral at the National Cathedral. I wish that I could stay home all day to avoid the motorcades. I also wish that every cop assigned to block traffic for a motorcade was tested on their ability to communicate with the public. Some cops love to blow their whistles and scream at pedestrians, but don't make it clear where the boundary is between the prohibited area and the area where pedestrians are allowed to be. A few cops also have bizarre ideas about prohibited behaviors. One time, I saw a jogger who obediently stopped jogging and stayed on the sidewalk, but did exercises to keep his heartrate up. A cop decided that the exercises were somehow a threat to the politician who was expected to pass by soon, and ordered him to stop. Anyway, tomorrow would be a good day to stay inside as much as possible. #WashingtonDC
