I think the time will come before the next one (or even after the midterms) when this will become apparent.

They might try to do some quasi-legal bullshittery, or they will just straight up install him as dictator for life, if they think they can get the military to fall in line. Anyone who thinks it can't happen and can't happen fast, is kidding themselves. A state of emergency is easy to create.
