Jakago' (蛇籠 'gabion'), as an abstract pattern, can be seen on kimono, obi, and tea utensils, and has even inspired a style of tearoom vase.
The name comes from the basket's likeness to the body of a snake.

The paulownia inspired Itotatsu (いと達さん) to create a sweet called 'sei-no-hana' (聖の花 'sacred flower'). According to Chinese legend a phoenix will only land on a paulownia tree, and only when the country is being governed by a good ruler. Its appearance is a good omen.
