@fif@fsebugoutzone.org yggdrasil is also not really good for making a private network ala tailscale. you'd need to firewall the shit out of it basically, and probably still use central node to not get raped by the NAT.

you can just not peer with public ygg nodes, totally sealed off overlay for yourself I vibe coded a wireguard deployment/monitoring thing recently because everything out there is just TOO MUCH. But even with that it's pretty annoying, the public yggdrasil network has been really simple/fast. But you're right you have to treat the interface as if it were just connected straight to the internet. I should probably try and replace wg with ygg just to see if it's less BS to deal with
