This shift is also happening at a time when that flexibility matters. Everything is expensive, especially if there is demand for it.
I don't know where I am going with this. It's a bit disappointing to see the pretty but not as useful books starting to dominate. I mean, they have their place and I do own several of them. But they feel less useful right now somehow. Maybe I'm just stuck in a pattern?
But anyway, that's what I am thinking about this week as I cook.

Ugh, hand injury made that painful to continue. And is the reason for the typos. Unlike cookbooks I don't have an editor so... yeah. There's typos. 😄

@commonst@social.vivaldi.net Back in 2020 I was trying out different ingredients for chicken soup, and a friend bugged me that using store-bought chicken broth was wrong and I needed to make my own with the bones of a roast chicken. So I followed the instructions he gave me, bought a bunch of vegetables and a roast chicken and cooked them for hours and… like, it definitely tasted better than the carton, but it was exhausting and expensive. It would maybe make sense to do some modified version of this if I normally bought roast chickens, but I don’t.
