This is Coco, about 10 minutes before getting lost in a state park. After 41 days of hiking, camping, drone searches, trapping a LOT of the innocent local wildlife (they all got a meal and treated well), he was finally done with kitty Rumshpringa. I found him sitting on a pile of rocks next to the entry to the park. No worse for wear other than a bot fly larva in his neck. Don’t listen to all the negative Nancys that tell you “Oh if you haven’t found them by now, they are long gone!”.

Yeah, my cat was gone almost 2 months and someone reached out having seen a post on lostmykitty.com which I definitely ridiculed my wife for making saying that no one is going to look there. He survived, but shrunk from a big burly boy down to skeletor status. Unfortunately for him, his kidneys didn’t appreciate his decision to walk the earth, and gave out on him like a month after we got him back and we had to put him down. He was super old at that point, and and while it’s sad he didn’t make it, we were just glad we found him and at least got a bit more time with him.
