I experimented with maptoposter (https://github.com/originalankur/maptoposter) today, and with some small tweaks produced a pair of map wallpapers for Greater London. If you want to use them, there are high quality versions (as well as a dynamic HEIC) at https://github.com/dch82/greater_london_wallpaper/.
