I left Ireland in 2014 and a few years ago one of my oldest friends called me a Plastic Paddy over it. He really knew where to hit, I guess. I'm visiting Ireland soon and it's true, I do have this nagging feeling that my membership has lapsed. National identity is so difficult and strange to me.
