Reaper. Technically not free, but you get 2 months fully-functional for free and, after the trial ends…it remains fully-functional just with a nag screen that you dismiss with one click It doesn’t look fancy and there’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s incredibly powerful and when you feel guilty enough to pay it’s also incredibly cheap (and a one-time purchase)
