  • @shoq@mastodon.social It's been pointed out before that conservatism itself was an ideology created explicitly following the decline of feudalism to protect the interests and wealth of the aristocratic middlemen. That's what the founders of the US largely were and why they did things like make voting rights dependent on land ownership and why originally they had it rigged up so the senate wasn't elected by the people, to keep things from getting too democratic up in here.
