RYAN ADAMS 1989 2015 U.S. 2xLP pressing I find it hilarious that the only Taylor Swift album I like is not by Taylor Swift. 😂 Say what you want about Ryan Adams (most people do). Yes, he’s a bit of an asshole and a creep, but the dude is a hell of a songwriter. He’s also always done interesting cover versions of a vast array of songs, from many genres. So, back in 2015, when I heard he was doing an ALBUM cover of Taylor Swift’s 1989, it was gonna be good. I knew it would be: A. way more nuanced and interesting. B. that it would actually rock It’s really good, man. It took an obnoxious over-produced schlocky pop album and added a bunch of #70s and #90s rock to it. It proved that not all pop music needs to sound like it came off a conveyor belt. It can have personality, it can be interesting, and it can have a little umph and depth.
