RE: https://mstdn.ca/@dbattistella/116995146478021457 I agree that the CEO of Shopify is a fascist, and retailers should stop using Shopify. But there is no Canadian "democracy" to destroy. Canada was never truly a democracy, and nor is the US and other capitalist countries. Before you scream at me, both Princeton research and Indigenous insight backs me up. And although these citations are about the US, they apply to Canada, the UK, etc. for the same reasons. "Choosing" between multiple party colours of billionaire serving politicians is no democracy. I spent 20 years on the inside of the NDP, volunteering, and the NDP is also a neoliberal party, the leadership isn't "left" at all. And if you think someone with the surname Lewis is a socialist, you're a sucker. @kimcrawley@zeroes.ca I hear you and agree that a system run by oligarchs and their servants (our politicians) is not a democracy. I still often used language from my brainwashed and privileged upbringing, and I appreciate being reminded to stop doing so.
