It's actually a huge luxury in CS that virtually everything can be reasoned about bottom up by construction. So many other fields have to deal with black boxes as just a fact of life.

Adjacent to all this, mech interp has always seemed like a neat field from the outside looking in. It's a shame that it's so heavily EA-coded.
