I would say get to know how to use it at least so you can hit the ground running if they ruin Plex for you.

For your use case its pretty much identical. I prefer the plex interface slightly. But id rather use open source

It may have very well changed recently or I could be misremembering, but the reason I switched over was being unable to play certain codecs/media types (types of hdr?) over stream while converting on host… unless I had a subscription. Utter lunacy to want me to pay to convert on my own machine. I’ve since swapped to jellyfin, donated, and am happier for it (and the open source part is such an added plus).

I never had issues with it. But when my old pc died I opted to buy the 4k ONN device and store the files on USB.
