@shimminbeg@masto.ai This is why I think he has no hope. He wants to expand the voter window leftward while holding on to the centre/right-flank — but the folks who fled leftward are deeply committed to the causes he wants to hold or advance (like drilling) rightward.
Maybe he's banking on a total collapse to the left from other parties — Greens and LibDems have both hit 8% in the last week — and that folks will come rushing back, but I don't see it.

@shimminbeg@masto.ai Another possibility might be hinted at by this from the mayoral election. Approximately half of Tory voters prefer Labour as a second choice rather than reform. If replicated nationally, and he can make small inroads leftwards then somehow bank on a Tory collapse in the next few years... Again, tough to see a route to it. More likely Reform collapses and floods the Tories.
