@jonny@neuromatch.social Me and my friends wanted to make one called "Base Beast" with a radix of 666. After 0-9 and all the English letters we would then have 631 symbols of increasingly satantic design.

@jonny@neuromatch.social And if numbers were base 12, wouldn't that mean we'd have had the whole "metric" system set up in base 12 too? hm .would the speed of light end up being close to round number that way too? 299792458 meters per second , usually rounded to 300 Mm/s. "quick" work to get a duodecimal metric system and the speed of light in that.... 676A4359 units/second. Yeah not as nice & round.

@jonny@neuromatch.social I would guess that the numbers 0-9 occur (individually) more frequently than 10 and 11, so the reduction is less than that. Not sure how this scales to higher numbers, but a lot of numbers in the world are low anyway?

@jonny@neuromatch.social way weirder. a meter would have 144 centimeters, and assuming the meter would be the same length cause its like a normalized french armslength, all numbers that describe size in cm would be of similar length as today, but the individual cm 10/12 shorter... Same for money etc. Arbitrary metrics would all scale differently, thus affecting the number of symbols less than your 10/12th. Corrolary: Depends on what counts as read, but probably more on screen already. I'd guess the takeover year to be 2010's or so.
